How a DJ Can Set the Tone for a Retirement Party

Every milestone in our life deserves a celebration, and retirement is perhaps one of such biggest ones.

It is a big deal to have no more work, no more running after money, and finally reaching that stage of our lives where the time finally slows down. That is definitely a reason to celebrate!

But there’s one big fat mistake all of us make when throwing a retirement party, and that is assuming that all retirees are old and boring.

In the eyes of the world, they might be wrinkly 65-years-old people who have nothing more to do with their life. But the truth can be so different. You never know how young at heart that person might be, and you definitely don’t know how humorous, creative and fun that person might be.

Depending on the particular personality of the retiree, here’s how a DJ can set the tone for their party with these songs:

1.    Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler

This is a perfect song to dedicate to the retiree on their party. If that person has been your guide, your mentor or your teacher then this is the way to make them feel special.

The air tends to get a little teary eyed at a retirement party, and one of the reasons behind it is the feeling of not being useful anymore. This is the time you need to tell them, in Bette Midler voice that, “you’re my hero, and everything I would like to be? I can fly higher than an eagle, ’cause you are the wind beneath my wings…”

Granted, that it will make people shed a few tears, but they would be happy ones.

2.    Memory by Barbara Streisand

When this song begins to play, we can bet you that there won’t be a dry eye at the party.  How could there be when this song talks about happiness, and good old days, and reliving the memories again. But most importantly, it talks about how today is a day to remember too, for it would be a memory tomorrow.

It’s a beautiful song that reminds everyone that the present should be cherished too.

3.    I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair by George Jones

I don’t need your rockin’ chair is another classic song that will never go out of style. This song is most suitable for retirees for whom, age is just a number. It’s a very, in your face song that lets everyone know that grey hair, retirement plans, and slow walk doesn’t qualify me for a rocking chair. I can still stay young.

We all know people like these who do not let anything beat them, if you know one, ask the DJ to play this at their retirement party.

4.    We’ve Only Just Begun by the Carpenters

The end of one thing is the beginning of another, and this song is a friendly and melodious reminder of that.

Of course, most retirees move to a place they have always wanted to, or some go on a year-long vacation. This is the beginning adventures and what there to not be excited about.

With the right choice of songs, you can help the retiree have the best and the most memorable party of their lives. But for this, you need a DJ who knows how to set the tone with music, someone like Incredevents Music & Memories.
